Sullivan and Allgood smash Run Rabbit Run 100 course records

Storms hammered Steamboat Springs all night and the two winners still took the records down by daylight.

Ryan Sullivan won the 2026 Run Rabbit Run 100 Mile in 17:03:38 and Hannah Allgood won the women's race in 19:01:59. Both are course records, and both won by more than an hour, iRunFar reports. Allgood was led across the line by her dog Gunner.

The weather was the other headline. The competitive Hare division left Steamboat Springs, Colorado, at 1 p.m. Mountain time on Friday, September 18. Rain arrived a few hours in and kept going for most of the 12-hour overnight section, often torrential, as wave after wave of storms rolled across the course at every hour of the day and night.

Sullivan led from mile 24

Sullivan, Jeff Mogavero and defending champion Jesse Rich topped the opening 4,000-foot climb up Mount Werner together in 1:04. Sullivan and Mogavero hit Fish Creek Falls at about mile 17 in 2:39, already inside course record pace. Sullivan broke away on the climb out of Fish Creek, was three minutes up at Long Lake at mile 24, and nine minutes up at Summit Lake at mile 30 in 4:46. He was never challenged again.

That is the part worth sitting with. Sullivan finished fourth here last year after suffering in cold and rain, and iRunFar says he was simply better geared for the overnight hours this time. He also won the High Lonesome 100 Mile earlier this summer.

Behind him the podium kept moving. Devon Olson, a Steamboat local and the winner of the Cascade Crest 100 Mile this summer, climbed from outside the top three to second by mile 71, 26 minutes behind Sullivan, while Mogavero dropped to third with stomach trouble.

A big purse, about to get bigger

This was the race's 14th edition, paying $20,000, $8,500 and $5,000 to each podium and prize money seven deep. The night before the race, organizers announced a $100,000 first-place prize for both 2027 and 2028, which pulled extra attention onto this year's edition.

The course is 101.5 miles with 20,391 feet of climbing, starting at 6,695 feet and topping out at 10,600 feet. Not the highest Colorado hundred, but late enough in the year that the weather usually has something to say. It did.
