Hurley on her 2:20:47 debut: nobody gets there alone
Emma Grace Hurley has talked through the fastest marathon debut ever by an American woman, 2:20:47 at Chicago, in a full conversation with CITIUS MAG. Chris Chavez says she credited coach Andrew Begley, her pacer and the volunteers at mile 20. The same episode ranks her American records from 2026.
I can’t have that moment without literally thousands of people doing something far more thankless.
Fiona O'Keeffe has hamstring surgery after tear fully retracts
Fiona O'Keeffe had proximal hamstring repair surgery last week at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, per Chris Chavez. An MRI showed the partial tear she picked up before the Boston Marathon had become a fully retracted tendon tear in her left leg. She had been announced in the 2026 New York City Marathon elite field.

Study says non-elite marathoners take in 21.7g of carbs an hour
Jonah Rosner flags a 2025 study by Lanpir and colleagues that measured what non-elite endurance athletes actually ate on race day: marathoners averaged 21.7 grams of carbohydrate per hour, not even half the low end of the 60 to 90 gram target. He says athletes both under-consumed and overestimated what they took.
This is why you gotta measure your carbs, people!
