The big stuff

Ingebrigtsen runs 12:59.24 to beat Hocker in World Ultimate 5000m, Americans go 2-3-5-6-7

Jakob Ingebrigtsen swung wide on the final turn of the World Ultimate Championships 5000m in Budapest and closed the last 200m in 26.07 (12.60 for the final 100m) to win in 12:59.24. Cole Hocker was second in 13:00.05, Parker Wolfe third, and Americans took five of the top seven places, with 2nd through 7th separated by 0.35 seconds, per Citius Mag. No medals at this meet, just prize money, which had Wolfe saying afterward he wanted a medal anyway and is hungrier now. Henrik Ingebrigtsen said Jakob had only four weeks of real training before the European Championships and is "nowhere near" his 2024 5000m fitness.

It was a Diamond League final. We weren’t setting a world record. I just wanted a race.

Adios Pro 5 first look: 195g, $250, a hair behind Fast R 3

One r/RunningShoeGeeks poster with nine miles in the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5 lists it at 195 grams in a men's US 10.5, $250 (330 CAD), 39mm in the heel with what they believe is a 6mm drop (heel height minus forefoot height), and a new plate adidas calls the energy rim in place of the old energy rods. They say the Lightstrike Pro foam is firmer than the Pro 4 but still soft, the shoe is lighter and much more stable, and it handled everything from 7:30 to 5:00 per mile, but it sits a hair behind the Fast R 3 and Metaspeed Ray while beating the Brooks Hyperion Elite 6 and New Balance SC Elite v6. A second poster put 1200km on the Adios Pro 4 as a long-run trainer, heard something snap at 100km and again around 700km, and still rates it 5/5 on cost, speed and cushioning as a trainer, not a racer. Separately, The Run Testers call the Qiaodan Leili 2.0 (about £60 in the UK, $95 in the US, 225g, 7mm drop) one of the bounciest shoes they have tested and an excellent marathon training shoe, with stability its weakness.

However, I do feel that the shoe is just a hair behind the top tier race day shoes like the fast r 3, metaspeed ray, and others.

I heard something snap 100km in and a second time around 700km in and there’s been that popping sound every step since then.

Grant Fisher says a rough few weeks have him eyeing the roads

Grant Fisher finished sixth in the World Ultimate 5000m in 13:00.34 after placing 11th, 7th and 9th at the last three Diamond Leagues, and told Citius that midseason he felt he did not need the roads for a while but the past few weeks have him wondering if it is time to move up. Citius suggests a strong run in Budapest may keep the two-time Olympic medalist on the track a little longer.

PRRO road circuit paid $459,350 in prize money to 107 elites this season

David Monti posted the 2025/26 PRRO Circuit numbers: six classic road races from 4 to 10 miles, $459,350 in total prize and bonus money, $150,600 of it USA-only, with 54 elite men from 12 nations and 53 elite women from 8 nations competing. The six races drew 101,555 finishers in total.

Jason Fitzgerald says great marathoners raced great 5Ks first, then exits the thread

Coach Jason Fitzgerald told @mis_aligned there is no better way to become a better marathoner than by becoming a better 5K athlete. In replies to @RebuiltPt and @mis_aligned he said the marathon is more aerobic and takes more time to master, especially with specific durability, but fast runners are fast runners and there is no good marathoner who did not first race a great 5K. He also said he chose his words carefully and did not make the claim @RebuiltPt attributed to him, then called @RebuiltPt obtuse and said he was disengaging.

Beaverhead 100k, a Western States qualifier, ends after 13 years

iRunFar's Andy Jones-Wilkins writes that the Beaverhead 100k in Idaho is ending after 13 years, with the Tarkalson family choosing to close it rather than hand it to another organizer. The point-to-point race along the Continental Divide was a Western States qualifier (a finish inside the cutoff counts toward entry to the Western States 100), with a 20-hour qualifying cutoff inside a 22-hour overall limit.
