Ingebrigtsen to run Ultimates 5000m first, 1500m still undecided, TV2 reports
Jonathan Gault says Norway's TV2 is reporting that Jakob Ingebrigtsen will race the 5000m at the World Ultimate Championships tomorrow, then decide whether he runs Sunday's 1500m. CITIUS lists Josh Kerr v Ingebrigtsen v Cole Hocker among its events to watch, next to Julien Alfred v Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in the 100m. LetsRun says Alison dos Santos, with a 45.80 world record and six sub-47 runs this year, meets Warholm and Rai Benjamin in Sunday's 400m hurdles, and that Benjamin is attempting a 400/400m hurdles double with 99 minutes between races on Saturday.

Kofuzi picks the East Peak ice bandana, logs a second 70-mile Berlin week
Kofuzi's week six of Berlin Marathon training was a heat-management episode: a handheld with drink mix on Monday's easy run, an Omius strip (a cooling strip he notes Kipchoge wore at the Olympics) for Tuesday's 6 by 6 threshold session, and ice bandanas the rest of the week. He tried several and says the Rabbit holds the most ice, the Feed has the easiest large zipper, and the East Peak is best for faster running and the one he reaches for most. Sunday's long run ran on a Precision Fueling 90g hydration gel pack (three gels in one), and the week hit 70 miles for the second week straight. Believe in the Run posted its own ice bandana roundup, but its post text gives no verdict.
Ice bandanas are my preferred way of managing heat
since I started using an ice bandana this summer, it certainly has made marathon training in this heat a whole lot more enjoyable
I wish I had like three or four additional weeks to train more

Canaday says marathoners slower than 3 hours race mostly in zone 2
Sage Canaday says most runners set their zone 2 (easy, aerobic training effort) too low. His claim: if you are not yet a sub 3-hour marathoner, or you run ultras, you are racing most of your marathon or ultra in zone 2, so it is a higher intensity than most people think and easy days can cover a wider range. He adds that most runners can only hold true zone 3 (what he calls sub threshold, LT1 or aerobic threshold) for up to three hours all out, which is why his Higher Running plans stack zone 2 mileage and mix zone 3 in strategically.
The reality is that if you’re not a sub 3-hour marathoner (yet) and/or you’re an #ultrarunner …then you’re probably racing most of your marathon or ultra in your zone 2.

One r/AdvancedRunning poster wants 120g of carbs an hour, hunting for low-glucose gels
One r/AdvancedRunning poster 2.5 months from a marathon wants to go from 90 to 120 grams of carbs an hour and is asking for gels with less glucose, citing Steve Magness's line that glucose should not exceed 60 grams an hour. The poster says most gels run a 2:1 or 1:0.8 glucose to fructose ratio, which at 120 grams an hour puts glucose over that line.
